Celebration of local Democratic Headquarters Grand Opening July 29th thought to be largest Kerry nomination party in Napa Valley.

Napa, CA -- Local Democratic Party dignitaries, supporters and activists rallied to kick off the political season last night with the grand opening of the Democratic Headquarters at 1408 Second Street in historical downtown Napa.

The Democrats of Napa Valley Club (DoNV) threw open the doors of the new Democratic Headquarters to celebrate its grand opening on the night of John Kerry's Presidential nomination. The event believed to be the largest Kerry/Edwards nomination party in the Napa Valley drew approximately 250 to 275 local Kerry supporters. Among those in attendance were Noreen Evans, Democratic Candidate for the State Assembly, Seventh District, Pat Wiggins, Assemblywoman, Seventh District, Napa Supervisors Mike Rippey and Diane Dillon, and Napa Valley Community College Board Member Bruce Ketron.

A large 6' screen and special audio system was set up so the enthusiastic crowd could see and hear Kerry's acceptance speech. Even the spillover crowd outside the Headquarters office was able to hear and see Kerry deliver his rousing speech, thanks to speakers placed outside the front window in anticipation of the large turnout. The large gathering overflowing out onto the street appeared to surprise and delight those driving by the headquarters who waved, honked and gave the thumbs up sign as they passed.

The Democratic Headquarters, officially opening Friday July 30 will serve as local campaign headquarters and volunteer center for those interested in joining the Kerry/Edwards Presidential campaign, Barbara Boxer and Mike Thompson Congressional races and Noreen Evans run for State Assembly.

It is the perception of many that Napa County is largely Republican when in actual fact, there are more registered Democrats than Republicans. With the importance of this year's election, the local Democrats are determined to make their voices and their votes count.

"It seems like every Democrat in the Valley is rallying to the party's call this year," said Robert Jacobvitz, president emeritus of the DoNV. "The Democrats of Napa Valley Club is adding new members and volunteers every day. The club expects this trend to continue as we move closer to the elections. The DoNV invites everyone to join in the enthusiasm and excitement as the Democrats march towards victory in November."

The DoNV recently re-energized itself into a Democratic force in the Valley with a quickly expanding 350+ volunteer and membership base. The club will work out of the new Democratic Headquarters to continue to grow and expand its volunteer efforts in the areas of voter registration, get out the vote and swing state outreach.

Headquarters co-Chairs, Sharon Macklin and Bob Stoner said "We expect to see many new faces become members and volunteers as John Kerry takes the Democratic banner and leads the fight to take back America. We encourage all local Napa Valley Democrats to join us and spread Kerry's message. We are encouraging volunteers and donations to the Headquarters to help us, as John Kerry Says, "stand up for America's values and build an America that is stronger at home and respected abroad."
